The guest lecture I want to discuss is Tim Jordan who talked about operations management. Some of the main concepts I learned were about supply chain and communication. Those two are important concepts because supply chains are used throughout all business so it was interesting to learn how they really work and what goes on behind the scenes. As for communication it was important to see how Tim communicated with other companies and what he has to do communication wise to keep the process running smoothly.

A concept from the textbook that relates to what Tim discussed is operations processes. This relates because the operations process is about transporting, sorting, delivering, and so on. Those things are three points Tim discussed during class. Those points are only a few on the plenty things that go into the process of a working supply chain. Tim's company provides this service for other companies such as McDonalds. His company delivers, sorts, transports things like meat, fries, etc. That is why I would say the supply chain and operations process go hand-in-hand.

His lecture relates to an article I found about the fashion industry planning to reduce supply chain emissions. What I mean by that is those companies want to better the environment by changing the ways their supply chains work. This relates to what Tim does because if a company he transports for wants to change the way they do things, he either has to adjust or lose them as a customer. He said being up to date with regulations and things like this are a part of his job. Being it is bettering the environment I am sure both sides would be able to figure something out. Part of the job is staying up to date and adjusting.

Lastly, an article that relates to something else Tim touched on during his lecture was A.I. He touched on how artificial intelligence could play a role in some changes in the supply chain business. A.I. could cut out jobs but they can also improve the chain to make things work more efficiently without human error. Like the article says about A.I. not being new, A.I. is something that Tim Jordan can use to improve his work but A.I. can also be considered competition.
