IA01





The article discusses about Elon Musk's Tesla company and its most recent problems. Elon Musk has recently been in the light regarding a tweet he made about securing funding. That tweet spiked Tesla's stock price and he is now under investigation for it. He also has to deal with multiple lawsuits during this time. One of the most important things he has on his plate now is competition. Some funding is now being given to competing companies instead of his.

The idea of competition in this article relates to competition in the textbook. The textbook talks about "perfect competition being when consumers can buy the same product just from different companies." Elon Musk has never had much of that perfect competition until now in this electric car field. With people investing in a startup company called Lucid Motors he now has competition on the market. If this market continues to grow Elon will have more competition than he expected or wants.


Elon Musk's business ethics relate to what we have talked about in class. His ethics prove to be poor at this time. They are not good business ethics like we have discussed. The things that make his ethics so poor are him knowingly tweeting about funding to raise the stock price and the multiple lawsuits he has on his hands. This is not a good look for his company and may certainly scare off some potential investors with his questionable business ethics. Good business ethics would be not being under investigation for interfering with the stock market and also resolving those lawsuits in a timely manner.

My plan for IA02 is to find someone to interview through the LinkedIn account or to find someone from the business newsletter. I will reach out to them then interview them. For IA03 I will start to think of ideas such as my business plan and business environment. As for IA04 I will go to either the MIS club or find an on or off campus event that can fit my schedule. Lastly, for IA05 I will pick the guest speaker presentation that interested me the most. Then I will relate it to class and write about it. I will finish them before the deadlines by doing these tasks before the actual due date.

The event I attended was the WestPACS job and internship fair that was back on October 10th. I attended this event because of all the different employers that were there. I felt this was the most useful event because their was plenty of opportunities to make connections. Having the chance to see all kinds of different employers shifted my focus more to cybersecurity as a whole rather than staying in management information systems. My interviewee is a Chatham alumni who is currently employed at Merrill Lynch. They were only here for their graduate degree so they were not apart of the available clubs on campus. What I learned about good studying strategies is that it is important to make time to study. A lot of students have busy schedules and put studying to the side but it is always important to find the time to study for tests/quizzes. A piece of advice I learned about building a good portfolio is how important it is to get internships. Internships are valuable because they teach you different parts of a business and they look good when the time comes to apply for my first job. I also learned how important the business mixers are. Company Me Mission Statement- Enjoying my path and always working hard with the future in mind. Business Environment The industry I will be competing in is the business industry. More specifically, I would like to be in the cybersecurity aspect of the business industry. To get into this field and succeed I must continue to use strategic planning .
